Retail Performance Specialist

Salary: $50,000–$70,000


Overview:
The Retail Performance Specialist will be responsible for performing anonymous mystery shops to review retailer performance and purveyor performance to ensure execution of, and compliance with, the Vision Process, and identify market standards and competitive positioning.

Job Description:
Essential Functions
•Anonymously assess each store based on KPIs (Consumer Experience, Food Safety & Sanitation, and Brand Support) and any in-store programs using GoSpotCheck missions.
•Plan and coordinate assigned market reviews.
•Perform accurate reviews of retailers, analyze data, and report findings.
•Provide feedback regarding products, merchandising, brand support, in-store programs, competition, and market conditions.
•Provide insights and recommendations to protect the Boar's Head Brand, to advance retail partnerships and execution, to ensure purveyor compliance to standards, and to support sales growth.
•Maintain awareness of competitive activity and their positioning in markets, including product quality, distribution, pricing, promotions advertising, and market presence. Provide strategies to advance Boar's Head products in view of existing competitive market conditions.


Working Conditions
•Position requires 75% travel within assigned market and nationally, if needed
•Weekends required, but not every weekend
•Requires working alone and traveling alone out in the marketplace and working in home-office when not traveling
•Requires driving long distances, sitting in a car, getting in and out of a car frequently throughout the day and standing for long periods of time, walking throughout a store.

Functional/Job-Related knowledge, skills & abilities needed:
•Work Planning, Organization & Execution - Ability to plan, prioritize and execute shops on set deadlines. Time management a must.
•Observant and Curious – Ability to see details throughout the store and shopping experience and be curious to find new products and trends. Detail-oriented a must.
•Data Synopsis - Ability to compile data from many shops, identify trends and make recommendations to sales, purveyors and retailers on how to overcome issues and improve market challenges.
•Reasoning - Ability to identify service models, merchandising, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.


Interpersonal knowledge, skills & abilities needed:
•Team Dynamics - Results oriented team player with a pro-active attitude
•Confidentiality – Ability to maintain confidential sensitive company information
•Personal Computer Skills – Intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Business Intelligence, and GoSpotCheck
•Business Relationships – Able to develop effective business relationships within the department and with sales and purveyors as necessary
•Change Management – Easily adaptable to change and flexible if schedules change, tools change or additional responsibilities are added
•Communication – Ability to effectively present information and communicate with all levels of management. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and survey comments.
•Self Sufficient – Must be able to work alone in market and stay on task


Education and Experience:
•Working knowledge of grocery retail DSD operations preferred, but related experience in food industry appreciated
•Four years of college or knowledge equivalent
•Mystery Shopping experience a plus
•Experience working with/for a major retailer a plus
•Possess high-level verbal, written, and technological skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
•Smart Phone and GPS Navigation skills required; knowledge of route planning tools a plus
•Bi-lingual is a plus
•Ability to compute fractions and percentages and apply to practical situation and ability to read and interpret graphical data
•ServSafe certified or Universal Food Safety Training a plus or willing once hired
•Valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to rent a car
