Salary: $110,000–$130,000

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Manager, Consumer Insights is accountable and responsible for developing, integrating and implementing research solutions that address product, consumer and category marketing for the organization.  The individual translates marketing issues into testable hypotheses, selects and develops/oversees the accepted methodology among appropriate consumers and reports results in a meaningful way.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners with Marketing, International, Licensing, Education and Sales departments to provide actionable consumer insights to move their business forward and recommends potential consumer research that will aid their decision making.  
  • Translate business issues into testable hypotheses and explain how recommended research will meet the information needs of the business, as part of the research approval process.
  • Develop methodology, questionnaire and action standard to gather data and insights to address needs of business partners.  Research areas includes concept testing, product learning, attitude and usage studies and custom research to address team needs.
  • Work with vendors to develop studies to address needs and manage the selected vendor through their complete execution of the research.
  • Provide analysis, direction and strategic insights to teams they support.
  • Gather and share trend information to drive product development and planning for Marketing and other teams
  • Negotiate vendor/supplier fees for custom and industry research.
  • Present research findings to teams and Senior Management, as appropriate

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  MBA preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Consumer Insights; experience in both quantitative and qualitative research required
  • At least 3 years experience in marketing research.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage internal and external resources.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate internally and externally.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • PC knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint cc:  Mail, Internet).
  • Able to work independently and with teams.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Able to manage budgets in cost effective manner.
  • Ability to develop hypothesis based on business information.
