The Associated Press reported that the U.S. Census Bureau disbanded outside advisory committees of demographers, statisticians and advocacy group leaders who offered expertise to the statistical agency. Excluding travel expenses and lodging for meetings, members of the advisory committees worked for free. On Tuesday, members of the Census Scientific Advisory Committee and the 2030 Census Advisory Committee received notices saying Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick determined that their purposes had been fulfilled.
